A speed test can look fast while streaming still performs poorly. Consistency, latency, packet loss and Wi-Fi quality can matter as much as the headline download number.
What to check
- Run multiple tests at different times.
- Compare the streaming device location with the router location.
- Test Ethernet if Wi-Fi varies significantly.
- Check whether other devices are saturating the connection.
Why one number is not enough
Video quality, codec, player behaviour and simultaneous household traffic all influence the bandwidth required at a given moment. Use your actual playback behaviour together with connection tests instead of relying on one universal speed claim.
